All roads lead to Rome. Well, almost all of them. The trip to Rome from Siena was over three hours on a bus that made several stops. I became familiar with the route as I had to make the trip to Fiumicino airport a few times.
Rome is an incredible city. It reminded me of London and New York City. It had all of that old world charm that one would expect from Rome with all of the scammers, pickpockets, and tacky trinkets that line NYC streets. Some actually tried to pickpocket my mom on the train. My mom busted the young woman. Crazy, right? Thievery is more than shady characters in back alleys. Who would have thought?
There were so many sights to behold but my favorite was an impromptu snap I took of the Colosseum. It was my favorite photo since the one I took outside of the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona.
Roma will always hold good memories for me. It took my breath away, figuratively and literally. Damn was there a lot of walking. Walking through Roman ruins was something that I will never forget. I am fortunate enough that I got to share it with friends, classmates, and my mom.
We all got our Roman holiday after all.
